When seven-year-old Lucy Fletcher discovers a mother cat giving birth to a litter of kittens by an old brick building near her school, she notices the tiniest kitten having trouble shooing his brothers and sisters out of the way to get his share of the milk. Lucy promises to take the kitten home and feed him for the mother cat. But how can she convince her own mother to allow her to keep the kitten?
